London bans pesticides

The 13-6 vote, after a two-hour debate, allows exemptions such as sports fields and farms.

A new bylaw which will come into place on September 2008 will see the end of pesticeide use here in London. The law was passed in June 2006, and we have been given three growing seasons to adapt to the seeds of change.

If not properly managed, pests can affect our quality of life in many different ways. Pests can represent a threat to public health and the environment as well as create significant negative impacts to the economy if they are not efficiently controlled.
